2008 National Rehab Week Patient Award Winners Red Soucy Red suffered a stroke and congestive heart failure. He was unable to walk and had difficulty swallowing. Triesti Russell Triesti had chronic back and leg pain from an accidental injury. She had not walked in 12 years. Randy Rousseau Randy had a severe stroke that left him with impaired movement and inability to speak. He was unable to sit or stand on his own. Bryce Milne Bryce was completely paralyzed from the neck down due to Guillian Barre Disease. He had to overcome many obstacles and he is now walking with assistance. 2007 National Rehab Week Patient Award Winners Carol Rohl Carol is 53 years old and had a stroke in 2004. Prior to her stroke, she was a professional harpist and signer who performed with her musician husband, Gordon. Chuck Mills Charles "Chuck" Mill, age 50, of Westbrook was diagnosed with Guillian-Barre Disease in April 2006. Ned Hatfield Edward "Ned" Hatfield, from Freedom, NH, suffered a stroke 3 days before Christmas in 2006. Stephanie Ruel Stephanie Ruel, age 43, from Scarborough had an intracerebral hemorrhage (stroke) while at home in October of 2006. 2006 National Rehab Week Patient Award Winners Rhonda Durant Rhonda is a 38 year old educational tech who lives with her husband , son and two daughters in Bridgton. She had uncontrolled seizures and underwent surgery for the removal of part of her brain in December of 2004. Harold "Hutch" Hutchinson Seventy-two year old Hutch Hutchinson from Waldoboro was admitted to New England Rehab in September 2005 suffering from a stroke. Krisztina Sebok Krisztina is a 38 year old former dentist from Falmouth who experienced a severe stroke in 2004. Adam Doucette On October 13, 2004, on the way home from work, he was in a motor vehicle accident that caused severe multitrauma... Emma Verrill In 2003, at the age of 15, Emma Verrill of Yarmouth, sustained a spinal cord injury as a complication of surgery on her spine and became paralyzed from the waist down. 2005 National Rehab Week Patient Award Winners Marc Bilodeau Marc, a 55 year old from Poland, Maine, received a diagnosis of Guillian Barre (a debilitating neurological disease) in 2002. Due to the illness, he was hospitalized in an acute care facility, on a ventilator, and unable to move any of his extremities . . . Leo Gaulde Leo is a 56-year-old male from Biddeford who had multiple strokes and medical complications. He was admitted to New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland in August of 2004. Upon admission he was disorientated and severely agitated, had global aphasia (unable to speak or understand language). He required One-to-One supervision 24 hours per day . . . Charles "Cuddy" Cohen Cuddy is a 78-year-old male from Portland who suffers from severe chronic low back pain, heart disease, and a recent pulmonary disease that requires him to be on continuous oxygen . . . Tina Callahan Tina is a 47-year-old fifth grade teacher who lives with her family in Biddeford. She suffered a stroke on September 14, 2002.
