New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland Presents The Sandra Mariner Rehabilitation Nurse Award
PORTLAND, Maine – New England Rehabilitation Hospital presented several awards at their annual Employee Appreciation Day celebration held May 6, 2008. Adrienne Andrews, RN, CRRN, of Buxton received The Sandra Mariner Rehabilitation Nurse of the Year Award.
Elizabeth Glidden, RN, CRRN, New England Rehabilitation Hospital’s Regional Director of Nursing presented the award. “Adrienne is an exceptional nurse. She is caring and attentive to her patients and will often go above and beyond what is expected of her. She aspires to further her education to better serve the constantly evolving needs of our patient population,” stated Elizabeth.
The Sandra Marriner Rehabilitation Nurse of the Year Award was developed as a way to honor Sandra, who was a Certified Rehabilitation Nurse, specializing in the care of spinal cord injury patients. She was a very professional and knowledgeable nurse who worked with a challenging population in a way that highlighted all that a Rehabilitation Nurse should be - a patient advocate, educator, coach, counselor and supporter - in a caring and firm way. The award recipient is nominated by peers, co-workers and physicians.
