New England Rehab staff selected five inspirational patients who have overcome barriers and exceeded expectations. Their achievements were recognized at an awards ceremony held September 20, 2006, during National Rehab Week.

National Rehab Week recognizes the positive effects of physical rehabilitation and applauds the accomplishments of people with disabilities. Nearly 70% of people in the U.S. will have some form of rehabilitation in their lifetime, either through temporary or permanent disability. This week was initially established in 1976 to create awareness of people with disabilities and the effects of rehabilitation.
