Stroke
A stroke occurs when the blood supply to part of the brain is interrupted or when a blood vessel in the brain bursts. Although a stroke is a disease of the brain, it can affect the entire body. Some of the disabilities that can result from a stroke include paralysis, cognitive deficits, speech changes, daily living difficulties, swallowing problems, and emotional adjustment. These deficits can present in varying degrees depending on the severity of the stroke and will impact the person's ability to function on a daily basis.
Stroke Rehabilitation
It is important to choose an appropriate comprehensive rehabilitation program to address the physical, cognitive, and emotional changes that are taking place after a stroke. At New England Rehab Hospital the clinicians are experienced in neurologic rehabilitation which can improve the patient's functional outcome. Many of our clinicians are NDT and Neuro IFRAH certified which provides the clinicians with continued education in neurologic rehabilitation.
